Not Your Mama’s House (NYMH) is a DJ dance party that was held at Brothers Drake Meadery every 3rd Saturday which focused on playing house music you typically don't hear a lot of in Columbus. Forward thinking, vibey, soulful and funky house music. A house music night for everybody, not just the house heads.

Columbus is a hub for house music. It is right in between Chicago and Detroit so we have a huge scene here, but it is fairly specific in sound. It is either very drum driven and minimal like techno and tech-house or it is the edm bass house stuff. While we do enjoy these types of house music we want to bring Columbus another option. We see a hole in the scene just like we did with HIPS and we want to fill that hole with some dope music that isn’t being played enough.

We will be playing funky and melodically driven house music. Not just drums, but vocals and soulful chords too. Just like HIPS, It is hard to describe the sound we are going for, so you just have to come out to hear it for yourself. While there is some of this sound in Columbus, it is mainly vinyl nights which tend to be older obscure remixes. There’s a lot of new amazing four to the floor style music coming out that isn't being played in Columbus and we want to change that.

We are very excited to start NYMH, dance with you all, and keep bringing the vibes to the city we love so much. See you there!
